Biology : Annual or short-lived perennial herb, woody at base, much-branched, 10-70 cm tall, with long appressed or spreading hairs; leaves short-petiolate, leaflets narrow, stipules setaceous; flowers few-numerous in heads or short lax racemes.

Ecology : Savanna with Hyparrhenia; deciduous Acacia-Commiphora bushland; valley riverine woodland and thicket; on sandy soils, but also gravel and hardpan (Burkina Faso); common weed of roadsides; widespread in drier parts of tropical Africa.
