Ecology and distribution

Biology : Erect annual or short-lived perennial bushy herb with softly tomentose stem 30-120 cm tall; flowers blue with a white and yellow median zone to the standard, rarely all white.
Ecology : Upland grassland; in Kenya locally common in grassland, possibly associated with old pastoral encampments (fide Agnew & Agnew o.c.: 146) extending down to upper fringes of Brachystegia woodland; 1500-2800 m alt.
  Closely allied to Mediterranean L. pilosus L. and L. somaliensis.
