Biology : Erect copiously branched herbaceous perennial herb; stems reddish, softly setose, 2à-60 cm tall, with slender finely grey-hispid branches that arise from a woody rootstock.
Ecology : Exposed grassy somewhat sandy places; borders of forests; deciduous woodland, especially on gritty soil; 900 m alt.
  Varies greatly.
  S. Africa.
