Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Herbaceous or half- woody perennial bushy plant, to 1-2 m tall with strigulose branches. Closely resembling I. tinctoria but distinguished by its crescent-shaped pods.
Ecology : Native of tropical America and probably introduced in the Old World; widely cultivated (indigo dye); intermediate plants between I. suffruticosa and I. tinctoria are known in South Tropical Africa.
  No mapped. Sometimes subspontaneous: weed of disturbed places, around cultivations (also used as cover-crop for coffee etc.; contour hedge planting).
