Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Erect slender annual herb, long-hairy when young; stems branched, quadrangular, 15-50 cm tall; stipules often with a small tooth near the base; corolla yellow; pod with a prominent irrelar network of veins.
Ecology : Disturbed ground, weed in cultivations; 1600-2500 m alt. (Ethiopia); weed of cultiations, rainfall 600-1300 mm p.a.; ± 2000 m alt. (E. Africa; introduced).
  Mediterranean region, Eurasia. Introduced elsewhere e.g. in Spanish Sahara, Niger, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Fl. Zambes. area, S. Africa, Socotra, and in other warm temperate regions.
