Ecology and distribution

Biology : Shrub or small tree 1-5(-10) m tall with suberect branching habit; stipules spinescent, short, never inflated, in pairs; leaves bipinnate, 3-7 cm long; flowers yellow, in heads; pods black, swollen, ± curved, indehiscent.
Ecology : Probably native of tropical America.
