Biology : Shrub to 6 m tall, scandent, spreading or arborescent; young branchlets densely pubescent, eglandular; stipules not spinescent broad, soon deciduous; prickles scattered along the internodes; leaflets to 48 pairs per pinna;
Ecology : Woodland, evergreen bushland, secondary coastal forest with Chlorophora standards; 50-220 m alt. (Fl. Zambes. area); 380-820 m (E. Africa).
  Very distinctive species: stipules unusually broad, foliage large.
