Biology : Liane; young branchlets glabrous; stipules not spinescent, deciduous; prickles scattered along the internodes, arising from longitudinal bands; leaflets of pinnae large, falcate; flowers yellowish-white, in heads.
Ecology : Swamp forest, or forest on dry ground.
  Closely related to A. kraussiana but more robust. A sterile specimen from Gabon seems to be this species (Florence 1817), fide Villiers, Fl. Gabon 31: 128, 1989.
