Trop. Afr.
Biology : Shrub or small tree to 7 m tall, with short bole, brown and fissured; bark on older branches grey to brown, flaking minutely; stipules not spinescent, soon deciduous;
Ecology : Savanna forest of the damper Guinea zone, often on poorer soils; (mean annual rainfall c. 1200 m p.a.); gregarious.
  Very similar to A. senegal , but differs in the leaves having a greater number of pinnae and leaflets; also occurs in moister regions than A. senegal.
