Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tree 5-15 m, with flat or rounded spreading crown; sometimes shrubby or flowering from coppice shoots 0,3-2 m high.
Ecology : Deciduous woodland; often the commonest and dominant treein Brachystegia areas; usually with B. spiciformis and forming tsetse-fly habitat; poor, risidual plateau soils; escarpment slopes; 490-1950 m alt.
