Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Evergreen, flat-topped tree 2-20 m, much-branched; bole 25-80 cm Ø, straight.
Ecology : Deciduous woodland; usually occurring with Brachystegia floribunda; common and locally dominant; in poor plateau soils; Kalahari sands; covers extensive areas; dominant in open grassy woods on sand; savanna exposed to fires; 1000-1700 m alt.
