Biology : Straggling softly woody annual or short - lived perennia, or shrub, 0,5 - 1,5 (-2) m tall; stems densely covered with appressed to spreading, grey to brown hairs.
Ecology : Grassland; cultivations; thickets; river banks, stony and rocky places; woodland; also cultivated; 0 - 1800 m alt.
  Probably not spontaneous in W Africa, Zaire, Uganda. Probably native in E Africa, from Uganda to S. Africa. Also in (native?) Mascarene Isl., Seychelles, India Sri Lanka; Java; Phillippines. Introducted in W. Indies, S America. Not in Madagascar.
  Very similar to T. villosa.
