Trop. Afr.
Biology : Shrub or tree 6-12 m tall; young branches armed with scattered downwardly hooked prickles to 4mm long, but prickles sometimes sparse and sometimes paired and subopposite.
Ecology : Deciduous bushland, seasonally flooded; with Acacia, Dobera, Salvadora, Balanites; locally common; saline soil indicator; 600-800 m alt.
