Biology : Climbing or scrambling perennial herb to several metres long; stem thick, densely hairy when young, later glabrous or with a few scattered hairs.
Ecology : Beach; seashore; recent sandstone; (coastal bushland; sandy shores; often with Ipomoea pescaprae; sea level and just above high tide mark.
  Coast of E. and S. Africa; Madagascar; Maldives; Seychelles; India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh; Philippines; Japan; Polynesia; Australia; America. - Adapted to marine environments.
