Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Annual or perennial trailing or entirely prostrate herb, to 1,8 m long, or sometimes suberect and short, ± 15 cm tall; stems slender, rooting at the nodes, densely covered with spreading yellowish or dark brown bristly hairs; rootstock slender, fusiform.
Ecology : Remarquably gregarious, resembling clover in European meadows; damp pastures; savanna; sandy plains near lake; grassland; dry woodland; dambos and flood plains; roadsides; 250-1900 m alt.
  Intermediates occur between this species and V. reticulata.
