Biology : Short-lived suffrutescent perennial herb ± 1,2-4 m tall; stems pithy, glabrous or less commonly densely shortly woolly particularly on the young branches; virgately branched; degree of pubescence very variable.
Ecology : Thickets near river; swampy places; peaty soil or mud; flooded dambos, periodically inundated marshes, river and lake margins; 900-1500 m alt.
  Caprivi Strip, Namibia, Botswana.
  The French botanist H. Gillet has collected his specimen 897 in Chad, Ennedi, mare d'Aoué (17° 12' N / 22°01E); it is pehaps the same locality as that cited by the Bristish botanist J. B. Gillett for the specimen Hutchinson 130 (Aouei ± 17° N x 23° E) [s
