Biology : Stems rather slender, somewhat ridged, mostly glabrous ±3 m long; flowering shoots often leafless.
Ecology : Kalahari sand grasslands and scrub; stony slopes and hillsides; various woodlands: mopane, Isoberlinia-Brachystegia boehmii-Combretum, Acacia-mopane, pure Combretum; various thickets and scrubs; 0-1200 m alt.
  Botswana, S. Africa, Namibia, Swaziland.
