Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Stems numeroux, prostrate, radiating from a strong perennial taproot, forming a mat, 10-80 cm long, rooting at the nodes, finely pubescent, glabrescent.
Ecology : Damp grassy places in valleys; disturbed places along channels, dams and quarries; also in cultivated places; to ± 1000 m alt. Has been cultivated in Kenya. Also in other pasture research stations.
  Botswana, Namibia, S. Africa.
