Biology : Stems numerous, prostrate to weakly ascending, radiating from a strong perennial taproot, usually forming a mat, 10-120 cm long, rooting at the nodes, finely pubescent, flabrescent.
Ecology : Grassy places along streams and flood plains; often in damp sandy spots, along roadsides; cultivated ground; 900-1450 m alt.
  Namibia, S. Africa, Botswana.
