Subshrub with at first to 20 leafless flowering branches 15-22 cm tall from a woody rootstock 2,5-3,5 cm Ø; later developing leafy, slightly ramose stems to 0,6-2 m tall, 10 mm Ø, covered with a dense velvety whitish tomentum. Flowering after fires. |

Wooded savanna; open forest; Brachystegia-Isoberlinia, Brachystegia-Uapaca, Acacia-chipya or semi chipya woodlands; Annona, Protea, Ozoroa assocations by dambo; Protea grassland; granitic sandveld; 480-1650 m alt. |
