Biology : Deciduous tree 6-25 m tall, in most ways very similar to C. mannii but has glabrous-margined leaflets with emarginate apices and yellow flowers; fruit 30-40 cm long.
Ecology : Rain-forest; riparian forest (Malawi); thickets; primitive woods with Trema spp.; Newtonia riparian forest; Baikiaea plurijuga dry deciduous forest; 820-1500 m alt.
  Variable in hairiness of the ovary.
  One of the most beautiful trees of Angola (Baker. f.).
