Biology : Perennial herb with slender, woody, rootstock (? sometimes rhizomatous); stems terete, radiating, prostrate, 3,5-40 cm long.
Ecology : Hard, bare ground, particularly by roads and paths; woodland; wooded grassland; open Brachystegia and Acacia woodlands; 300-2440 m alt. (400-1000 m in Fl. Zambes. area).
