Biology : Tree to 50 m; bole 2,75 m in girth, rarely exceeding 1,2 m Ø, straight, cylindrical, 20-30 m high, without or with buttresses to 1,5-2 m high, 10 cm thick;
Ecology : Evergreen rain-forest on firm ground; deciduous forest; secondary formations; river banks, gallery, on alluvial soils; more frequently in the drier regions in Liberia; to 900 m alt. - A conspicuous feature of farm bushland.
