Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Scrambling shrub or liane with shrubby base reaching to the forest canopy; branches twining, sparsely puberulous or glabrous, c. 1 cm Ø, and at least 6 m long;
Ecology : Closed rain-forests, primary and secondary, dry and wet; riparian seasonally flooded forest; marshes.
  Bioko/Fernando Poo.
  In anglophone colonial territories the plant was proscribed. Official destruction may explain its apparent uncommonness in certain areas (fide Burkill, o.c.: 422).
