Biology : Tree 4-12 m; branches stout, dark-brown coloured, bark fissured; branchlets short, thickened, few-leaved, crowded with stipule bases and.
Ecology : Single trees in open scrub vegetation, near arable land; Acacia, Commiphora open deciduous bushland on red sandy loam; 300-1000 m alt.
  The destroyed holotype is the only record from Ethiopia; has only been collected three times; very rare, possibly on account of the use of its bark for tanning.
