Biology : Perennial epiphytic herb with spherical to ellipsoid tubers 4-6 rootstock; stems several, simple to much-branched, sometimes fruit unknown.
Ecology : Forest, in crowns of trees, in particular stunted trees, 3-30 m above ground, on ridges; (450-)1600-1710 m alt. Similar to I. grandisepala, which does not produce tubers (if not overlooked). – The only wholly epiphytic Impatiens species with tubers.
