Stony hillsides, often dominant forming pure stands; sandy valleys; dry, rocky or ± shallow soils; on granite; dry Acacia, Commiphora woodland and wooded grassland; 400-1830 m alt. |

Also planted; propagation from seeds and cuttings.The chief gum resin producing tree in Ethiopia, where little effort has been done to domesticate it. It seems to be in critical condition. |
