Biology : Annual herb with taproot, to 70 cm tall but often much shorter.
Ecology : Open muddy or seasonally dry soil by water-sides; also a weed in open and even rather dry sandy to gravelly places; 10-2400 m alt. Fairly variable species. Egypt; S. Africa; S. Tomé; Madagascar – India, Sri Lanka.
