Biology : Shrub or tree 2-30m tall,unarmed or with spines to 1,2cm long;branches dark brown with pale brown lenticels,glabrous;leaves acuminate;flowers functionally unisexual,white,in pedunculate glabrous cymes 2,5-6,5cm long;fruit pink to red,3gonous to round.
Ecology : Forest and forest margins;along stream,with Podocarpus gracilior, Juniperus procera, Hagenia abyssinica, […],; forest, dominant together with Buddleja polystachya,Ekebergia capensis[…]all covered in epiphytes and lianes (Bale Mts.).
  ± 2200-3000 m alt.
