Biology : Perennial subshrub, much-branched and woody at the base, to 30 cm tall (rarely 60 cm); stems usually branched troughout, terete or somewhat angled, the upper portions usually slender and wiry.
Ecology : Acid rocky slopes and in soils derived from acid rocks, among grasses and low growing plants; woodland in light shade; usually 1000-1500 m alt. Near S. hoepfneri (herbarium specimens in poor condition are difficult to place). Botswana, S. Africa, Namibia.
