Biology : Small woody subshrub with trailing ephemeral red stems, to 60 cm long and 2 mm , from a single rootstock; leaves placed along the branchlets; flowers pink.

Ecology : Ericaceous scrub or fynbos with Philippia, Protea welwitschii, Leucospermum saxosum; plant sprawling over sand or rocks; leached, poor sandy soils with heavy rains over the year, within mist belt; 1700-2000 m alt.
