Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Erect perennial herb 0,4-1,5(-2) m tall; with great variation in 'stem indumentum.
Ecology : Open upland grassland, evergreen bushland; 1200-2440 m alt. (Fl. Zambes. area); to 3050 m (E Afr.); abundant. Occasional hybrids with D. dasycaulon occur on the Nyika Plateau (Malawi), fide S. D. Johnson o.c.
