Ecology : Dry upland evergreen forest (remnants); rain-forest; evergreen riverine forest.
  700-2300 m alt. Very attractive easily grown garden tree, ornamental shade-tree. Also cultivated in Ethiopia and possibly wild in the S part.Can be confused with Dais cotinifolia (Thymelaeaceae), with leaves, flowers, and distribution similar.
