Ecology : Seasonally inundated Loudetia grassland on dark grey sandy loam; 1550 m alt. (Tanzania).
  In habit similar to the sympatric T. subaphyllum but stems not winged and bracts larger and stouter, fruit different.Distinctive but poorly known species.
