Biology : Tree or shrub 1,8-7 m tall; bark rough, black or grey-brown; stems, leaves, inflorescences densely ferruginous velvety, ± glabrescent; leaves 3-foliolate, drying darker grey-brown above, pale brown beneath.

  Intermediates A. africanus-A.fulvotomentosus have lax inflorescences and ± glabrous leaflets.
