Evergreen and semi-deciduous forests, periodically flooded forest, gallery forest on rocky riversides, islands in rivers; edges of gallery forest in high rainfall savanna;; very common in semi-deciduous secondary forests; 230-1100 m alt. |

Similar to (the rare) L. punctatus (with less hairy leaves). Also resembling Deinbollia pinnata (often with orange hairs). |

Sometimes planted: shade tree, ornamental. Also a weed in rice fields (Nigeria). |
