Ecologie : Grassland; old cultivations; bushland; often by rivers; roadside (Zimbabwe); 1300-2000 m alt.
  India; China; Japan. - Madagascar? (specimens recorded by Brenan are attributed to C. stricta by Du Puy & Rabevohitra (Legum. Madagascar: 102, 2002).
