| Description : | Palm apparently solitary, 3-4m tall X 25cm diam., benching. Leaves 12; leaf sheath 35cm X 30cm, with a longitudinal cleft 32cm long; petiole 30cm X 4cm at the base; ochrea asymmetrical, 3-4cm long; costa 60cm long; basal segments 43 X 2cm, middle segments 76cm X 6cm, apical segments 55cm X 3cm, all of them light green. Infructescences 3 on the same stem; peduncle 40cm long; rachis 55cm long, bearing 6 fertile racillae where abundant fruits are inserted. Fruits oblong, 7cm X 5cm, covered with a waxy layer and very shiny when the latter is removed, orange-brown, This individual was the only one observed at adult stage; many juveniles apparently of the same species in the surroundings. |
