The Library is open to all users, but access to the shelves is limited to authorized persons.

Eight work stations are available. Consultation conditions are shown in the "Règlement de la bibliothèque des Conservatoire et Jardin Botanique de la Ville de Genève." (in french)

Registration for loans

Registration is done online on the platform swisscovery City of Geneva.

To register, you must :
- be at least 16 years old
- have an email
- have a telephone number (landline or mobile).

People without an e-mail address are kindly requested to contact the library staff.

Registration and loan card are free of charge. In case of loss the loan card is replaced free of charge.

On your first visit to the library, you will have to sign a form accepting the rules and regulations and present a document certifying your identity (identity card, passport, driving licence, certificate of continuing education or work permit). A legal representative will also have to sign this form for minors.

Rules and regulations concerning home loans, please consult the detailed conditions (in French).

People living abroad can neither make requests for digitisation, nor make requests for documents via the Courier service, nor make requests for interlibrary loans.

Conditions of use

Borrowing entitlements - 100 documents for Swiss residents, students, academic staff and border region residents
- 5 documents for foreign residents living abroad outside the border region
Loan period 4 weeks
Renewals 5 automatic extensions of 4 weeks (if the document is not requested by another user)
Request A book already borrowed can be requested on swisscovery City of Geneva or at the desk of the library. The patron receives a note when the book is available
Authorisation to a third party An authorisation to another person can be given using the appropriate form. This is possible for any person providing proof of difficulties in visiting a library due to illness, disability or other valid reasons. All authorisations to a third party are submitted to the library management for approval
Fines CHF 5.- per overdue notification and per item for 1st and 2nd overdue notifications, CHF 10,- per item for the 3rd overdue notification

Reproduction

A book scanner and a microfiches scanner are at the disposal of our patrons. Copies are not permitted without authorization of the library staff in the reading room.

It is forbidden to scan rare materials or items published before 1900 and any materials in special condition (size, paper, bound, etc.).
