Co-signed by the Swiss French-speaking cartographer Maurice Borel (1860-1926), this map from 1891 illustrates the sites of several European missions in Lesotho. A rugged, mountainous landscape is represented in detail along with the progress of an almost ecumenical proselytism as the key suggests. The reality was however more complex concerning the different denominations and nationalities. But missionary geopolitics needed to be exhibited like this on colonial maps. F. Rossinelli
