Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Much-branched deciduous tree 4-8-15 (-20) m tall; bole 10-30 cm Ø, with woody spines 1-5 cm long; aerial roots at base of stem.
Ecology : Stony ground; moist ravines; swamps; fringing forest; open bushland; exceptionally in fallows; Albizia gummifera-Macaranga forest; 1200-2000 m alt.
  Could well occur in Ethiopia.
