Biology : Epiphytic, rarely lithophytic herb to 40 cm tall, glabrous; stem to 25 cm long, erect when young, in older plants pendent; leaves distichous, in 4-6 pairs, linear, 6-12x0,5-1 cm, thick but not fleshy, V-shaped in cross section; inflorescences 2-4, 5-15 cm long, densely 3-15-flowered, arching, from below leaves; flowers distichous, waxy white, turning apricot, 2-3 cm Ø, with scent like lily-of-the-valley (Convallaria majalis); pedicel and ovary c. 1 cm long; bracts c. 0,5 cm long, dark brown, sheathing; sepals lanceolate, acuminate, 0,8-1,2x0,4 cm, tips recurved; petals similar, but slightly smaller; lip similar, c. 0,8x0,2 cm, recurved; spur 2-3 cm long, curved.
Ecology : Woodland; Brachystegia and Brachystegia/Uapaca woodlands; dry evergreen forest; montane rain-forest; sometimes riverine forest; on rocks, termite mounds; often on hills and hillsides; on forest trees and shrubs, e.g. Hymenocardia acida, on upper branches of shady trees near rivers; 450-2300 m alt.
