Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tuber and leaves unknown; scape 5-7 cm long; raceme lax, 5-6 cm long, pedicels 3-15 mm long; perianth yellow, 5 mm long.
Ecology : In sunny places. Known only from the type (Busse 714), collected in 1900. E Nyassaland (Malawi): Melingoti.
  “This may be a species with hysteranthus leaves…There is nothing in the description of the flower to relate it to a particular known species or specimen.” Probably a member of subgen. Ligulatum (Perry, l.c.), to which E. abyssinicum belongs.
