Biology : Succulent perennial bushy herb forming small clumps, branching somewhat fastigiate, 28-40 cm tall. woody at base, articulated, to 10 cm long, 1-1,5(-4) mm , occasionally rooting from lowermost nodes; with silvery-white scales.

Ecology : Thin bare soil over rocks or deeper sandy soils, often with P. commutata in deciduous bushland or open woodland; sometimes near temporary rain pools on inselbergs; 0-1500 m; S India, Sri Lanka.
