Biology : Herb to 30 cm tall; corm conical to subglobose, 1,4-2x1,2-1,5 cm; scape virtually absent above ground; leaves 2-3, lying on ground, 13-30 cm long, base (on c. 7 cm) ovate 1-2,6 cm wide, narrowing abruptly to become linear 2-4 mm wide; bracts several, showy, ovate, white or purplish, 6-13x1-5,5 cm, hiding a congested head of c. 10 flowers; flowers purple to mauve-pink, sometimes striped violet; tepals 1-1,5 cm long, as long as claw; fruit unknown.
Ecology : Moist sandy soils; moist grassland.
