Biology : Epiphytic, rarely lithophytic herb, glabrous; stems horizontal or pendent, 5-50(-100) cm long, leafy, covered in leaf-sheaths; leaves to 10, sword-shaped, fleshy, 10-44x1-3,5 cm, twisted at base, apex unequally acutely 2-lobed; inflorescences pendent, 1-several, 15-60 cm long, 50-100-flowered; flowers in whorls of 4 or in opposite pairs, greenish yellow or white, diurnally scented; bracts 3-5 mm long; sepals linear-triangular, acute, 7-11x2-3 mm; petals triangular, acuminate, 8-15x2 mm; lip rectangular, 10-13x6,5-7 mm, apex 3-lobed, mid-lobe elongated acuminate, side lobes rounded with fimbriate margins, with a marked tooth at mouth of spur; spur geniculate at base, fusiform, 6-12 mm long.
Ecology : (Tall) forest; gallery forest; bushland; sometimes Brachystegia woodland; dryish woodlands in savanna regions; often in hot low-lying areas; on trunks and lower branches of trees, e.g. Canarium schweinfurthii (often), Irvingia smithii, baobab, Acacia spp.; rocks; 120-1900 m alt.
