Biology : Terrestrial herb 30-80 cm tall, glabrous; tubers globose-ovoid, 2-2,5x0,5-2 cm; leaves 2, basal, appressed to ground, one ± orbicular, c. 4,5x4,5 cm, the other ovate, c. 5,5x3,5 cm; stem with c. 6 sheath-like leaves to 5,5 cm long; inflorescence 6-18 cm long, laxly 5-13-flowered; flowers resupinate, greenish-white, scented; bracts 12-35 mm long; pedicel and ovary 20-30 mm long, ± curved; dorsal sepal erect, ovate, convex, 6-9x4-6 mm; laterals deflexed, semi-ovate, 6-11x4-6 mm; petals 2-lobed from near base, lobes oblanceolate; upper lobe erect, curved, 5-10x3-5 mm, lying inside dorsal sepal; lower lobe deflexed, 6-12x c. 3 mm; lip 3-lobed from near base, spreading downwards; midlobe 7-13x3 mm; side lobes incurved, 6-12x3-4 mm; spur pendent, 30-45 mm long, slender but apex swollen, often caught inside bracts.
Ecology : Brachystegia woodland; grassland; 700-1500 m alt.
