Terrestrial herb 15-25 cm tall; tubers ovoid, c. 2 cm long; stem slender, leafy, with a single basal leaf and 4-5 leaf-sheaths above; basal leaf appressed to ground, ovate, heart-shaped; lower stem sheaths larger and looser than upper ones; inflorescence short, to 12-flowered; flowers pale red; bracts reflexed, ovate-lanceolate, ± of length of flowers; sepals ligulate, 3-4 mm long, the laterals longer than dorsal; petals linear, similar to sepals but narrower; all tepals free from base; lip helmet-shaped, compressed; spurs slender, tapering, 10 mm long. |
