Biology : Perennial succulent herb with numerous stems forming tufts, transparent petals; organs when rubbed have smell of formaldehyde.
Ecology : Humus pockets among dolomite, granite or limestone boulders; on rocky outcrops in sheltered gullies and woodland. S. Africa (Cape): var. cooperi.
