Biology : Tree (4-)6-12(-15) m; bole 25-50 cm DBH; crown at first thin, narrow, erect-branched, finally spreading and irregularly rounded; leaves pendulous, flattering in the slightest breeze.

Ecology : Deciduous woodland; usually a pure dominant, or codominant with B. spiciformis, B. longifolia, Julbernardia paniculata, Faurea, saligna, Uapaca, less often with B. boehmii, Julbernardia globiflora or Isoberlinia angolensis; etc...
